Setting up shop
Wednesday, February 27, 2008
I think I'm finally getting my groove back. I miss the money, I miss the blogging, I miss reading your comments, I miss it all! In fact, in the time that I was gone, I was able to clean house a little bit (haha) and guess what I found? Stacks and stacks of clothes I'd bought during the Christmas holiday sales. Yeah, can you believe I had stacks just sitting in our spare closet? So what's a girl to do? Since I did say I miss making money, why not sell these pieces online? I've already discovered this shopping cart software called Ashop Commerce that would allow me to set up an online shop. The software comes with full tech support so anytime I might have a problem, I could always speak to a live person. The software also comes with free hosting, a 128 Bit Secure Socket Layer protection for checkout, unlimited emails and if I need extra services such as website design, search engine optimisation or site checks, I could get that too. And because this is my first time venturing into something like this, I don't feel it would be all that risky because they do offer a 15 day 100% money back guarantee. What am I waiting for?

Monday's weigh-in
Here we go again, folks. Another gain. Yep, in the form of .4 lbs. You saw all my excuses here so this shouldn’t have come as a surprise (but truth be told, I’m always surprised haha). My leader asked me if it was that time of month to which I replied it was — she said not too worry, she’s positive I’ll have a big weight loss next week. I hope so.
But hey, couldn’t that .4 lbs just be a little more muscle gained? I need all the perking up I can get :). I’m starting to feel so negative right now though I’m trying not to. You don’t know how bad I want to eat a pot full of rice and dive in to food the way I used to do when I was feeling frumpy and funky (as I am now). But if I were to do that, I’d be throwing all that hardwork I put (physically, mentally, emotionally, etc etc) into losing 12.4 lbs so far. Is it worth it? Is causing more misery for myself in the end (when I get on the scale and see that I’ve gained 3 lbs because of rice) going to help the funny stage I’m going through now? Absolutely not.
I need a good hard workout. You know, the type where I can put on a great pair of boxing gloves and just have a go at the faces I want to punch (and maybe put a little bit of kickboxing into it as well — still the same faces, of course). Yeeeaaaahh baaaaabby. That then just might be better than eating that pot full of rice, indeed.
PS. I didn't blog about it but the Monday prior to this Monday's weigh-in, I lost 3.4 pounds.

Cheap thrills

I ordered this on ebay the other day. At a price less than the pre-selling rate of $15 on borders.com (hardback cover rate is $25, no way!). The seller said they were going to send it ASAP so I expect it to be here this week. My bedside table so needs a new book (I've finally finished Eat, Pray, Love. Do.not.recommend!).

Getting back online
Thursday, February 14, 2008
My sister’s computer is broken. Well, not exactly broken but she can’t connect to the internet. And if you know my sister, you’ll know she isn’t a happy camper. She loves and needs her internet connection because she’s constantly downloading songs for her Ipod. If she’s not on Myspace, she’s on Limewire. Her roommates are able to connect to the internet but she seems to be the only one who can’t get a connection. She’s sick and tired of talking to customer service support people on the phone so I went ahead and told her about BT Home IT Support. She can look at their website and see the different services they offer. They can help her with her connection problem or help her with anything else that she might have questions about—pc repair, printer problems, printer connections, etc. If she calls before March 31, 2008 and books an appointment for one of their engineers to come out to her home, she can get £30 off all Home IT Visits. I’m sure that girl is aching to get her computer repair needs done and over with!

Muscle, not fat
So it was a Monday yesterday and you all know how precious Mondays are to me, right? Moment of truth, each and every time. So here’s my good news: I gained 1.2 pounds. Wonderful, isn’t it?
Oh, but it is folks. I’m actually working harder at the gym now (read: I can feel some burns). So in a way, this weight gain was anticipated. Kinda. Well, no, that’s a lie. I was still shocked out of my pants when I saw the gain but my leader automatically assured me I had nothing to worry about. Had I just weighed-in a few hours after working out (I went straight from the gym to my weigh-in), my body would have flushed some of that water out and I would have weighed less (I just had to type that so I could convince myself some more when I go back and read this hahahaa!).
It’s muscle, not fat so I’m not too disappointed. A 9.4 pound weight-loss is still something to be proud of in 4 weeks.

3.6 pounds baby!
Which brings my total weight-loss to date to 10.6 pounds (I didn't blog about it but I lost 2.2 pounds last week!). Not bad for 3 weeks (going into 4), right?
I’m telling you, not only am I having my cake, I’m eating it too (literally!).
We can only get better from here folks. I’m excited!

Some updates
Around. But I just don’t know where…
**
I’ve noticed there are comments that I’ve yet to respond to that I haven’t received in my email inbox so excuse me if it seems I’m being a snob.. again. I’ll have to ask Amore what’s going on and how to get those comments back. Or I could just respond right on my website. We’ll see. Bottomline, thank you so much for taking time to leave comments. I love it, FYI.

This past Saturday was Disney Playhouse Live. It was a disappointment for several reasons. One, we were in the very last row and the very last chairs in the back. Our backs were facing the exit doors already. And the stage was all the way at the front (obviously!) so imagine when other kids would stand on the chairs so as to get a view of the stage? Luckily, Erynne could still see the stage and all the characters. She was so excited when Mickey came out and she was waving as if he could really see her *awww*. Two, the San Jose Civic Auditorium was cold — but then again, that’s because we were at the very back, facing the exit doors hahahaha! Third, I felt we didn’t get our money’s worth because the show was short and they didn’t really do much. But you know me, I’m always hard to please so who knows, maybe the show was worth it for others. Took some pics with the new digi cam DH gifted me with on our 4th anniversary. Will get around to posting those in a decade or so. Hehe!

Still at the gym 4x a week and tonight I have another weigh-in. I’m so excited. I’ll be happy with a loss of 2 pounds but I won’t be surprised if I’ve only lost less than 2 pounds. I’m pushing it harder at the gym but I’ve been eating a lot of yummy foods lately. And it’s funny because Liv asked me last night how my diet was going. It’s not a diet :). Never was, never will be. Granted I don’t eat a lot of the junk foods I used to eat but I eat whatever I want, when I want because I can. We can all eat whatever we want — we just have to do it in moderation :). That pizza I was drooling about in my past post a few days ago? I had my 2 pieces of pepperoni the next night — and I loved every moment of it! I had a craving for Hostess Twinkies last week so DH and I bought a whole box (he bought a box of Ho-ho’s!) — I ate half of one Twinkie and called it a day. So see guys, we can all lose weight and still have bites of foods we crave :). In fact, my Women’s Health magazine claims if you’re craving something, go ahead and take a bite. The more you resist a certain food, the more attractive it becomes so that when you can’t take it anymore, you’ll go buck wild and end up eating more of it than you would have had you just taken a stupid bite of it in the first place. Makes sense and yes, I do practice this now.

One of the reasons I’ve been silent is because I was extremely busy helping my friend O with her wedding details. Yup, she has finally set a date of June 7, 2008 in San Diego! After a lot of research and calling, I was able to find them a church and we also finalized a reception site. She’s now in the process of finding her wedding gown and nothing final yet but I may be back in Ohio within the next 2 weeks to help her finalize a gown. We’ll see. In the meantime, helping her plan her wedding has been fun. We’ve both never been to San Diego but after all the research I’ve done, I swear I could pull off a San Diego wedding of my own. And then I realized how expensive it is to have weddings in the United States. I’m so proud we had our wedding in Manila hahahaha!
**
Now that O has a wedding date, our plans to travel to Manila has been moved. We’re trying to decide if we’ll go in August or December. I’ll be starting from scratch again (with the planning) so for those who are wondering when we’ll be in Manila, stay tuned :). Thank you to Jane for letting me know how hot it is in HK in May! I’m a little weary about HK in December because it might be too cold for my inlaws hehee. I wouldn’t want them all to catch pneumonia while we’re there and here I am, enjoying every bit of the cold, LOL. Perhaps August is a compromise? We’ll see.

Try Cfares.com before you book anywhere else!
Friday, February 1, 2008
On top of being busy with my weight-loss goals (by the way, I've lost an additional 2.2 pounds last week!), I’ve also been in the market for airline tickets to Manila. Yep, maybe I didn’t mention it yet, but we’re planning a trip to Manila for this year. It won’t be a long 2-month trip like the last one was last year (I’ve yet to blog about that!). We’ll only be gone for about 2 weeks, if that. Now that my friend O has set a wedding date of June 7, 2008, I’m better able to finalize dates, hotels, etc. We’re planning to meet my in-laws in Hong Kong so we can treat Erynne’s two cousins to Hong Kong Disneyland. We plan to be there for 2 to 3 days. I’m so excited!
And because we’re treating them, finding cheap tickets is imperative! No ifs, and, or buts, I’ll tell you that right now. Good thing I’ve found Cfares.com. Here in the States, if you’re familiar with Costco, you’ll know that there are great deals to be had inside of Costco. The same holds true for Cfares.com. According to MONEY magazine, Cfares.com is like a Costco for airfare. You have to pay a membership fee but after so many trips, you get your money back because of the Cfares savings. Cfares is better able to give you great savings because they connect you to the lowest fares direct from airlines, major travel sites, and industry wholesalers. They also offer exclusive, customized, below-market fares. Not only that, you can bid for your airfare and find you a match if one exists in the market over the next several days (the cAgent service!). No other website can offer you these three options all at the same time.
In fact, I just checked Philippine Airlines’ website for round-trip tickets to Hong Kong from Manila on August 2-5, 2008. Then I plugged in the same details on Cfares.com and came up with cheaper rates ($50 difference guys!) for the same Philippine Airline flight! Granted the rates given were for Platinum members, I’m still saving about $200 even after I pay the $50 membership fee to get the really low rates. Now correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t that big savings even with the membership fee? That’s what I’m talking about! Cfares is awesome. Who knows, I might even be able to secure even cheaper rates with the help of the cAgent service.
I urge you to check out Cfares.com. It’s totally worth it.
